Hi guys! I wanted to share my thoughts on the serum I purchased over two months ago. I’m really passionate about taking care of my skin so I decided to try out some new products. I’m actually nervous about this post since I’ve never done a review before, so bare with me.
So one of the brands I wanted to try was Caudalie (as in my previous post). I didn’t have high expectations since we have a love/hate relationship. Meaning I love it, but Caudalie hates me. It’s the one brand I so desperately want to love, do you know what I mean? I hear lots of good things about this brand but I haven’t found a product that actually works for my skin. I read lots of good reviews online about the Caudalie Skin Perfecting Serum, and notice that the active ingredients are found in almost all of the products I am currently using. So I thought, “what the heck, I’m going to try it”. About a week into using the serum I noticed the small red bumps I was trying to get rid of spread to the rest of my face. My chin started to itch and flake. Another week later the high points of my cheeks started to itch and flake. It took me over a month for me to realize this wasn’t going to work.
Usually it takes about 30 days for you to see a change, since it takes that long for the cell renewal process to be complete. The top surface is the epidermis layer which is the protective layer. This is where your foundation sits on, etc. Not going to go into too much detail about the process but know that you’re trying to penetrate the layers beneath the epidermis layer. That’s where the change takes place; at the dermis level. The top cells die and are replaced by the new ones so you want to get to the layer that is replacing the old ones so the changes are made before they reach the surface. I hope that makes sense. This is why I kept using the serum for almost two months, waiting that 30 day period is crucial.
After a month passed, I still didn’t see any changes. So I decided to stop using it. It took a long time for my skin to calm down. The only thing that got rid of the redness and the itchiness was the Drunk Elephant. That’s really what saved my face guys, it was so inflamed and textured; I didn’t want to wear makeup. I couldn’t understand what was happening. But that moisturizer cooled down my skin and it's a lot softer now, thankfully The odd thing about this serum is it was drying out my skin in some areas as well as being too hydrating in other areas. Leaving me with huge pores, uneven skin tone, and blemishes. Applying foundation is unpleasant, it no longer blends the way it should. You can see every pore on my nose now, so I literally have tiny holes on my face that are visible. Definitely no tighten or minimizing of my pores. I don’t want to give-up on the serum just yet, so I’ve decided to make a cocktail of my creams. I use the Caudalie Skin Perfecting Serum on my nose and the inner parts of my cheeks hoping to see the results I thought I’d have by now. And then I apply the Drunk Elephant on my outer cheeks, foreheads, and chin to reduce the dry patches. I let that absorb before I apply my moisturizer with SPF to my entire face. I think I’m going to test this out for another month see how it worksr. After all I have the serum, might as well use it. I’ll be posting another update in a few weeks.
